GXO story
Like many women and diverse leaders, I didn't arrive in this country with a playbook. You weren't considered successful if you came from a multicultural background and were not confirming a specific path. The pressure was to assimilate into this new world, a new country, a new family. It was a constant hustle. Between navigating the naturalization process, proving myself worthy, and chasing the elusive American dream and my dream (or the dream many of us eventually give up on), I felt like I was constantly running on a treadmill.
But I refused to let go of my ambition. I knew I had something unique to offer, a perspective shaped by my experiences and fueled by my unwavering determination. At Ogilvy, I rose through the ranks, eventually becoming Managing Director and Head of Content & Media Strategy. I didn't just climb the ladder; I built my own. My leadership style, one built on empathy and empowerment, allowed me to expand our team from a single person to a thriving group of 125 across three global hubs. And I'm incredibly proud that we've maintained a 100% retention rate and achieved 100% diversity in leadership within my group.
My story isn't just about professional success; it's about defying expectations and proving that with resilience, hard work, and a little bit of hustle, anything is possible. It's about creating a space where other women and diverse leaders can thrive, knowing that they too can write their own playbooks.
Always being hard on myself being on a constant treadmill I didn’t realize until I went back to India to where it all started with my professor Dr. Rajita making me realize my journey and taking a moment to celebrate. It was not until my friend Akshay acknowledging and reigniting the entrepreneurial spirit in me working behind the scene brainstorming while I was writing my “what’s next”
That's how GXO was born. It's a space designed for first-generation leaders like us, individuals who are constantly breaking boundaries – whether it's by physically moving to a different part of the world, managing global teams, or shattering glass ceilings while juggling the demands of life.
Rajita and I have poured our collective experiences into GXO, crafting realistic, on-the-job techniques to help others navigate the often-turbulent waters of the corporate and entrepreneurial worlds. We want to empower others to write their own "Next Chapter Journey" and confidently define their "What's Next."
